Stephen Sothmann, President of the U.S. Hide, Skin and Leather Association will present insight on the latest developments in the meat and leather industries in the US. Delegates will hear information on the meat industry and how hides and skins are a by-product. Stephen will provide additional detail on traceability and animal welfare programs within the industry, and discuss if there is growth in overall meat consumption alongside a growing interest in vegan lifestyles.

The final part of the conference will focus on the increased deforestation rates in the Amazon, what this means for those sourcing leather knowingly, or unknowingly from this region and some of the strategies and programs available for managing the issue, including improved traceability programs and cutting edge technology such as DNA tagging.
